Wine Labels

I’ve finally made the labels for my first batch of wine. I’ll be sampling it on Wednesday. That will have been 30 days after bottling, though it’s supposed to best after 3 months.

Anyway, since it’s an Australian Shiraz, I figured what better to put on the bottle than my Australian Cattle Dog: Opal.

Here’s the label:

Our garage sale went well

A week later I’m finally posting…

We made about $180. Not bad for stuff we didn’t want anymore. Plus we donated over a truckload of stuff to CHKD. We actually have a garage now!

Last thing to get rid of is the fish tank. The thrift store wouldn’t take it, so I’ll put it on craigslist.

On another note, my site, Garage Sale Finder, is doing reasonably well. I still am forced to do the bulk of the data entry, but I’m getting 200-400 hits per week, mostly on Friday night and Saturday morning. For tomorrow (6/21) there are 190 sales mapped, but several of them are neighborhood-wide sales.

I’m going to a VBREIA meeting in the morning near the central library and there’s a neighborhood wide sale right near there that I’ll scope out.

Until later…

First map for the whole southside

My new site FreeGarageSaleFinder.com is doing well so far. This was the first week I extended the coverage past Chesapeake. There were over 260 garage sales in our area (Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach & Suffolk) today. I went to about a dozen, mostly to promote the site, though.

Someone keeps flagging my invitation to add sales on craigslist. Bummer. I need to get people to start entering their own sale information. I set up a “speed entry” section of the site so I can add sales very quickly, but ideally folks will advertise their own sale.

Check out the area map…

3/22 Garage Sales

Since the map is now defunct, I took it down, since it was taking too long to load every time I opened this page.

Here’s what I’ve got going on now!

Updated Garage Sale Map 3/15

Okay, it’s the beginning of the season, so there are only 21 sales marked, but it’s a start! Have a look at the updated map, and plot your course. If you click on the “enlarge” link, you’ll get a list of the sales. Most are from the Virginian-Pilot, a handful are from Craigslist.org. Have fun!

Ditto on the map here! Took down the image, just leaving the link, in case you’re curious.

From My Customers

"It is with pleasure that I recommend Valerie of Computer Design Graphics. Valerie is very blessed with her knowledge of the computer and web site design. She has helped me with many projects since we met at a networking event. As a result, now I don't know what I would do without her."
