Notes for RODERICK MCLENNAN:
Ian McLennan wrote,
The earliest of our direct descendants I have been able to trace is Roderick McLennan, born in 1770 in the county of Ross & Cromarty. He became parish Schoolmaster of Kintail in 1796, in 1796 at age 26, a post he held for 51 years until his death on March 3, 1847 at the age of 77.
Roderick married Jane McLennan on March 13, 1827 when he was 57 years old, and Jane 26 years old. The notice in the Kintail church Marriage Register reads as follows:
"Married at Western Invernate on the 13th March (1827) Roderick McLennan, schoolmaster, to Jane McLennan, eldest daughter of Christopher McLennan, late tacksman of Leach - Banns served and fees paid"
