I’m a fan of the Dog Whisperer. Both the show and the books. Cesar Millan knows his stuff — he trains people and he rehabilitates dogs.

One of the things he teaches is how desperately dogs need exercise. A challenge to those of us who are lazy (me) and who have dogs with allergies. A dog allergic to grass/pollen… who’d have thunk it?
Anyway, I posted a “want” on Chesapeake Freecycle for a treadmill and a wonderful lady responded within a few hours. My son, Andy, and I went to pick it up later that afternoon. Works perfectly, and after just a few days, Opal loves it. If we’re in the garage (doing laundry or whatever) she stands on the treadmill waiting for us to turn it on or taps it with her paw. I have a recumbent bike in front of it, which I’m riding while she walks, so we both benefit.
