Customs fraud makes it difficult for US companies to compete
This is the second time I’ve witnessed customs fraud on an internet purchase. The first time the glasses I ordered were delivered marked as a “manufacturer sample”, which of course, they were not.
This latest item was a video game that my son ordered. The sender identified it as a gift to avoid paying import tariffs. This particular game is more commonly sold as a downloadable product, but early buyers got the physical disc.
I just wonder how many products are shipped into the United States with fraudulent customs declarations, and how much it costs us as a nation. It’s bad enough that one of our biggest exports is jobs… but the imports aren’t being handled well either.
